Refund Policy

At Meels, we want you to love every meal. This policy explains how refunds work for orders placed through our website and app.
Refund Eligibility
Refunds are available for orders that are cancelled before the menu cutoff date. Once the cutoff passes, your order is locked in and will be charged and prepared for delivery. No refunds are available after cutoff.
To check your cutoff date, visit your subscription dashboard — the lock-in date is displayed on your upcoming delivery.
Refund Options
When cancelling an eligible order, you can choose how to receive your refund:
Option 1: Instant Account Credit (Recommended)
- Receive the full amount as account credit — no fees deducted.
- Credit is issued instantly as reward points (100 points = $1.00).
- Points can be applied at checkout on any future order.
- Points never expire.
Option 2: Card Refund
- Refund is returned to the original credit card used for payment.
- A processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 is deducted from the refund amount. This fee is charged by our payment processor (Stripe) and is non-refundable — we pass it through at cost.
- Refunds are processed within 7 business days.
- Depending on your card issuer, it may take up to one billing cycle to appear on your statement.
Gift Card Payments
If your order was paid (in full or in part) using a gift card, the gift card portion is automatically converted to reward points upon cancellation. Points are issued instantly at the standard rate (100 points = $1.00) and can be used on any future order. Gift card balances are not restored to the original gift card.
Points Payments
If you redeemed reward points on the order, those points are automatically restored to your balance upon cancellation.
Mixed Payment Orders
If your order was paid using a combination of payment methods (e.g. credit card + gift card + points), each portion is refunded to its respective source:
- Credit card portion: You choose instant account credit or card refund (processing fee applies to card refunds).
- Gift card portion: Automatically converted to reward points.
- Points portion: Automatically restored to your points balance.
Minimum Charge Threshold
Our payment processor requires a minimum transaction of $0.50 CAD. If your remaining balance after credits (gift cards and/or points) is less than $0.50, the full amount is automatically covered by your credits and converted to reward points upon cancellation — no card charge or card refund is involved.
Interac e-Transfer & Debit Payments
Orders paid via Interac e-Transfer, debit card, cash, or cheque cannot be refunded to the original payment method. These orders will always receive a full account credit (no fee deducted).
Order Edit Refunds
If you edit your order before cutoff and the changes reduce the total, the difference is handled the same way:
- Instant credit: Full difference applied as reward points immediately.
- Card refund: Difference refunded to your card, minus the processing fee.
Subscription Orders
Subscription orders are auto-populated based on your preferences and are only charged at the menu cutoff. Before cutoff, you can:
- Swap meals, adjust quantities, or add items.
- Skip the week entirely (no charge).
- Cancel or modify the order for a full refund or credit.
After cutoff, the order is locked and charged — no refunds are available. See our Cancellation Policy for details on cancelling your subscription.
Wrong or Missing Items
If you receive the wrong item or something is missing from your order, please contact us at [email protected] within 48 hours of receiving your delivery. We'll make it right via replacement, account credit, or refund at our discretion. Please make sure to send in a photo of the item that was received.
Non-Refundable Items
- Orders past the menu cutoff date.
- Payment processing fees on card refunds (2.9% + $0.30).
- Original shipping fees (unless the issue was our error).
How to Request a Refund
- Log in to your account and locate the order.
- If the order is still before cutoff, use the cancel or edit option.
- Choose your preferred refund method (instant credit or card refund).
- For issues with delivered orders, email [email protected] with your order number, a photo of the item that was received, and a description of the issue.
Proof of purchase is required for all refund requests. We reserve the right to deny refund requests that do not meet the criteria outlined above.
